Other Questions
None of these answer you question? Go put your question on the "HowToSubmit" page or send it to us at [email protected], thanks.
(101) I just tried to submit gifts and it is telling me there are no gifts recognized!
A few things can cause this.
1. SL may have accidentally (or purposely) changed their link format.
2. Do a search (CTRL+F) in the source code for the text "sent a request using Sorority Life:".
3. You grabbed the source code of a page that doesn't have any gifts.
Work-around discovered 8/26
The problem occurs when you go to the gift page after you have just been on your newsfeed or another facebook page. For some reason the other page's source persists.
1. To overcome the issue use the link provided on SLGifts Submit Gifts page to get to your FB gift page
or manually type "facebook.com/reqs.php" from a new tab.
2. Once the page loads, reload the page again.
Do a hard refresh/reload This means you need to hold your computer's command key down while doing what
you normally do to refresh.
On Windows computers the command key is CTRL.
On Macs the command key is Open Apple.
Hold the command key down and and press F5
-OR-
Hold the command key down and right-click and choose your browser's option for refreshing or reloading the
page from the menu.
-OR-
Hold down the command key, SHIFT, and "R" to accomplish the same hard refresh.
3. Now you should have a fresh page ready to be source code grabbed.
Gifts are only on the page that has entries like this:
1. SL may have accidentally (or purposely) changed their link format.
- That has happened once before. Regina got around 35 gifts from a couple of friends that were broken links - not only were they not recognized by SLGifts, but they didn't work with SL either.
- If this problem persists for more than 24 hours, please send me a few of the links so I can get to work on seeing what is up.
2. Do a search (CTRL+F) in the source code for the text "sent a request using Sorority Life:".
- If that text is found, then something is up. I would like a copy of the source code if the problem still exists after 24 hours.
3. You grabbed the source code of a page that doesn't have any gifts.
- Several people have been grabbing the source code while on the gift page, yet it is obviously from the news feed. We now know how this is occuring.

(102) I just submitted a bunch of gifts, why aren't they showing up under my name?
You submitted gifts that were sent to you by your friends. Only a friend of yours can submit gifts generated by you.
Up until the middle of August, only three people submitted gifts to SLGifts. Nearly 2,000 gifts a day from over 300 gift senders. Wouldn't it have been great if those gifts had been labeled as Tanda Trollop, Ginai, and Regina? Of course not! LOL. The real work was done by the people who took the time to max out their gifts to us each day. Submitting the gifts was pretty simple after they generated them.
Instead, because of how SL changed things with gifts, we have to work together, get a buddy, gift to them and have them return the favor - then the next day you return the favor to them and they back to you. Suddenly you are generating 40+ gifts a day in just a couple minutes and two houses of 1,000 or more people have access to their max number of gifts a day!
Also, once you put a sister's gift up on SLGifts, let her know to tell her house that everyone in her house can go collect her gift(s).
- The gifts you submitted from your account will definitely not show up as you. You didn't send the gifts, you got the gifts.
- The gift links, when submitted, will show up as the person who sent them.
- The reason for this is because only their FB friends can claim the gifts. It is their ID, not yours that makes it collectible to another person. If we used the submitter's name then no one would know if they could or could not collect the gifts.
- For instance, say I, McB, send you a gift. You submit it to SLGifts. If it showed under your name, I'd think, "Oh cool! This is from my sis, so I can collect that!" Then to my dismay I'd discover it wasn't a gift I could collect and the message would say something like, "This gift can't be collected by you, it is for your friends!" Instead, the gift shows up as McB. That way you know you can collect it and so does everyone else who is FB friends with McB.

(103) What is up with the duplicate links reported by the warehouse?
Primarily, duplicate links are caused by a player selecting a gift and then selecting multiple sisters. When they then send the gift only one link is generated by SL and it is sent to all the sisters that player selected. The SLGifts warehouse uses unique ID's to ensure that a gift cannot be entered more than once, thus ensuring gift collectors don't waste their time being told they've already accepted a gift...or clicking one link and seeing 3 others suddenly show as being collected.
Duplicate links are also generated by accepting gifts too fast and then returning the favor. It is necessary to CTRL+Click a gift, count to two, then CTRL+Click the next gift. Later, when you go through the tabs you opened using CTRL+Click you may return the favor and know that two gifts with the same time stamp will not be created, thus preventing a duplicate gift link.

(104) Quick Claim Code Questions
The quick claim code is all about quick and easy access to the gifts you submit. Sure you are trying to help your sister's sisters, but the gifts were sent to you! Copy the Quick Claim code off the Gift Submit page by selecting it, hitting CTRL+C and then paste it using CTRL+V on the QuickClaim page and you'll get a list of all the gifts you have submitted to the site.
Store a copy of your quick claim code in a text file or by sending it to yourself in e-mail. Don't try to write it down as it must be typed exactly as it is - capitals, small letters, etc. Honestly I wouldn't want to attempt to determine if the character I am looking at is a one, a capital I, or an L.
This code will be used to help you track how many of your sister's gifts you have submitted to the site in the near future and there are plans to use them to create accounts for our submitters so you all can see how many others are contributing as well and have some fun competitions. Also, our top contributors and top gift senders will be eligible for assistance from the SLGifts for shameless vote begging, Walk-off assistance requests, etc. The possibilities are endless.
Be sure to hang on to your code! If your browser has cookies enabled it will retain your code for 30 days from the last time you submit gifts so you don't need to copy and paste it everytime you visit the site. However, if you delete your cookies it will be gone, so you'll need that text file or e-mail so you can get it again.

(105) Gift submission form information and more about getting your gifts on SLGifts!
There are two ways to submit gifts. The first way is absolutely cake and takes very little technical ability. The other way requires Google Chrome, Tamper Monkey, and a little script that is housed on userscripts.org called SLGiftsCollector.
Once you have submitted gifts to SLGifts two things are now possible
First, you may collect the gifts faster off the site using ctrl+left click.
Much faster and easier than FB's acceptance process.
Second, *anyone* who is in the house (FB friends) with the person who sent you the gift can collect them as well!
Want gifts you send up on SLGifts for your sisters? Send your gifts to a friend and then have them post those gifts here. Have that friend then accept your gifts from SLGifts using CTRL+Left Click and use "return the favor" so you can submit their gifts to SLGifts as well. Keep using "return the favor" and you can both max out your gifts to each other everyday! Be sure to count two seconds between ctrl+clicking on the gifts to ensure each gift has a different time stamp. If not there will be duplicate gifts generated while returning the favor. By posting them here everyone in the respective house will have the ability to pickup the shared gifts!
Only links that match the search criteria are sent to our warehouse. All the other information never leaves your browser.
You can see for youself what was pulled by looking for <!--=-=-=-=-=SLGifts Grabbed GiftLink=-=-=-=-=--->. Everything else was left locally on your browser.
If you have any questions regarding the procedure or find some results to be questionable, use the comment section under the how to video to leave a comment, question, and inquiries regarding possible issues with the process. Copy and paste the results of the gift submitter as well ONLY if it has to do with them. We will use your inquiries to help make the instructions better.

(106) Some or all of my gifts were submitted to the warehouse, but they are not showing up!
This appears to be two different issues.
1) The delayed gift. Some people have reported that they submitted gifts from friends and that the gifts did not show up for several hours, but they did eventually show up. The root cause for this is not known and I do not have a working theory for it as of yet. If you experience this, please provide any information or thoughts you may have on the HowToSubmit page.
2) Sometimes gifts that show up in your gift acceptance page are broken. This happens from time to time and is typically because a part of the link is missing or was created poorly when a person sent the link. The warehouse ensures all the pieces of a link are present and if they are not it will not accept the gift. It does provide a list of all gifts that were not accepted - typically, however a gift that was broken would not even be pulled from the source code. This can be seen by searching for "sororitylife" in the results and finding "http://apps.facebook.com/sororitylife?ref=" and the rest of the link. If you see that in there it was not an acceptable link and was left behind.
One example of this could be a link like this: "
htpp://apps.facebook.com/sororitylife?ref=1000099999016669&send_timestamp=1283472558&
track=invite-IGGiftAccept-5034-20100304-0&action=claimGift&
from=1000099999016669&target=5034&gift_hash&gift_timestamp"/>"
At first it may look okay, but upon close inspection it is missing the most important part of a gift - the "gift_hash". Not having that is like showing up to a concert without a ticket - you have no proof that there is a seat for you and you are not getting in,. Also, there is no gift_timestamp. If any of the fields are missing the link will not work and there is no gift to collect.
While SL is busy with tons of people checking out Tokyo over the next few days, this error is bound to occur.

(107) How do I get involved?
Be proactive. Learn how to submit/post gifts to the site and start letting your sister know you are submitting their gifts. Then they can let their sisters know that their gifts are on our site to be collected. Buddy up with a few sisters and return the favor to each other and submit each other's gifts. Keep spreading the word.
(108) I am at my max acceptance for the day, can I still submit to the site?
Of course you can! (my question to you is why accept the old fashioned way?) Submit here, ignore your gifts and claim from here. Since you do not accept when you submit (nor do you need to accept them to submit them) you are not going to affect your acceptance for the day. I submit 1000's a day and sure don't claim them all.
(109) I posted gifts and it did not ask me for a name.
The submissions page only asks for a name if the ID is not in our database. It will only ask once per new ID occurrence. So, if you are asked for more than one name - they are for different people. Please do not put the same name in over and over and please do not put your name in or Regina Pfilangee (as it was just an example in the video).
(110) Can't I just put all gifts I submit under my name so my house can get them?
No. The ID in the link gets compared with the recipient's FB friends list. If they are not friends with the sender they can not claim the gift. You cannot change an ID in a link to a friend to make it work either.
(111) I gave my Quick Claim code out to my sisters and they can't accept the gifts I posted.
The quick claim is a service for the poster, not her sisters. It allows you to see what gifts you have submitted to the site. This allows you to quickly claim the gifts. Your sisters can only claim these gifts if they are FB friends with the senders of those gifts.
(112) I tried to post gifts and it did not work.
Either you haven't waited long enough or you are being given a specific message indicating why it did not work. The message is either self explanatory - or the fix for the other messages are included in this FAQ page.
(113) I tried to look up the person's name and SL was down. What do I do?
Best idea is just to wait a little while and then click on "Lookup name" again. SL is rarely down for too long. The gifts won't go bad if you have to wait an hour or two to finish posting them. If you'd prefer to just be done, then please put the following in the name field, "Troll assistance on Aisle 2" and click "Add". McB will be automating this in the future.
(114) How do I know what stuff to take out of the source code before I post new gifts? There is just so much there!
Do not worry about it. The script we use to upload the links ignores only grabs gift links that follow a specific pattern - it does not grab anything else.
(115) But, if I don't ignore all those other requests on my FB page I have trouble posting gifts. Once I ignore those it works.
It is not the ignoring of the other applications that has now made your submission work. It is the fact you reloaded the page your gifts are on. CTRL F5 every time you are told there are no gifts found.
(201) I posted a whole bunch of gifts, but when my sisters come here to collect they say there are no gifts from me?
The gifts you submit are not from you, they are from the sisters that sent them to you!
They should not be listed under your name as they are not your account. They have to be labeled based on the ID of the person who sent the gift to you. Only the sender's FB friends can claim the gifts.
If you named several senders as yourself now your sisters will be confused as anyone from your house that is not their sister will give them an error while collecting.
Please submit a request to have these names fixed at: slgiftsMcB.gmail.com, thanks!

(202) I returned the favor but none/not all of my gifts are showing up?
Your gifts don't magically appear once you return the favor. The person you returned the favor to has to post them to the site for you. Also, you HAVE to accept each gift slowly. Doing this too fast causes duplicate gift links which get rejected and do not make it to the site. Accept and return one at a time for extra caution.
If you prefer to click a bunch of links, then do return the favor, count two seconds between each link click to ensure the time stamp will change.
If you prefer to click a bunch of links, then do return the favor, count two seconds between each link click to ensure the time stamp will change.
(203) I clicked the gifts under my name and it says I can only claim gifts from my friends?
That is right. You can only claim gifts from your friends. Unfortunately, this does not include you.
(204) Do I have to be friends with the site owners to be able to use this site?
No. You have to be friends with the senders of the gifts in order to claim their gifts. We are not FB friends with a majority of the people who now use the site. The site is intended to be a gift sharing service for your current house members, not a new sister farming site.
(205) Why are my gifts mixed with someone else's gifts?
Gifts do not get mixed. If there happens to be 2 senders with the same name there will be 2 groupings. Let us call them CoolSender. One group will be labeled CoolSender. The other group will be labeled CoolSender (duplicate name:FB Last 5 are:#####)
(206) Why is it saying "this gift has already been claimed"?
Chances are this is what happened: Sister Sue picked out a gift, then she clicked on more than one name before she hit send. One of the sisters she sent to submitted the gift to the site. You claimed the gift from your FB account and then came here to claim more. You then went to claim the gift listed under Sister Sue and got the "Already claimed message"Another possibility is you cleared your browsing history and so your browser does not recall you visited here. This can happen if you change browsers or use incognito in Chrome. The final possibility is during a return the favor session the person went too fast. There is a time stamp and a hash on the links. Our site only rejects full gift links that are identical. A gift sent too fast in return the favor can have the same hash as the gift prior or after and get on our site but be rejected by SL as a duplicate. (think of hash as a unique serial #)
(207) There are too many people and I can not possibly figure out who my sisters are.
You can try your luck at getting a few gifts a day from the sisters who see you ask on the feed. Or, you can be proactive and test out names. The site is evolving to make it easier to find your current FB friends, but the easiest way to figure it out is to click a gift from a person and note the results.
There is more to come in the near future to help you reconnect with the people you know work for you!

(208) I am trying to claim a gift from a sister and it says I can only claim gifts from FB friends. But she is my sister!
That is true. Being in your house is not enough. You HAVE to be friends.
(209) I don't have many sisters that send. Can you ask the big senders to add me?
The senders here most likely are done growing their house. To get the most out of SLGifts bring a couple return the favor buddies and begin sharing the gifts sent to you! Return a favor to your entire house (even beneficial to tiny houses)! We are not a sister finder site.
(210) Do the gifts I sent to someone that posts on SLGifts get labeled based on which character (mini) I am on at the time I send out the gifts? Are there various mini names of mine out there with gifts?
No. Once your ID has been labeled in our database that is the name that will be associated with your gifts. We will be running a program soon what will check the ID against the name and the character you are on at that moment will be your new name.
If you have been labeled with a name that is not your prefered character name, please send an e-mail to [email protected] with your FB id and the character name you prefer and we will work with you to get it changed.

(211) Can I find a sister via their ID instead of their name?
Yes you can! It's not implemented in a friendly way, yet...however and there is absolutely no support for this technique.
FIRST:
What you need to do is get on the quickfind page, senders section. Select ANY sender and click to view their gifts. Now right-click in the area where the gifts or senders are shown, but not on anything in particular. When your pop-up menu offers you a "Open this frame in another tab" or similar select it. Now, you can manipulate the search criteria to look for sisters via their ID.
OR
Simply get to the site using the back-door. http://mcbluefire.net and click on the SLGifts Back-door option, click on Claim Gifts, then pick a sender and follow the remaining steps.
NEXT:
The address bar will have something like:

in it.
Change the number following Sister= to the user ID of your sister you are trying to find. If their ID is 123456 then change it to:
http://slgifts.mcbluefire.net/SLGifts.php?Sister=123456
Got more than one sister? Put a comma and NO SPACE and put another ID. So if it was also 9871231 for another sister ID you'd change the line to:
http://slgifts.mcbluefire.net/SLGifts.php?Sister=123456,9871231 and you'd find gifts from both sisters at the same time.
This is not "Officially" supported and could be broken at any time if I decide to change the SLGifts.php page.
NEXT:
The address bar will have something like:
http://slgifts.mcbluefire.net/SLGifts.php?Sister=1000011111111
in it.
